My dad is well and alive but he WILL NOT watch lion king. We watched it when I was a kid and it was the first time I saw him cry. He sat outside drank a six pack and smoked half a pack then came him and kissed me on the head and said “I’ll always be here pop. You’re my son” then we went to sleep. Never talk about it but it hurt him bad knowing he can’t always be that for us.

Lost my father on my first deployment, I didn’t process it at first. I had to go home, verify his body, cremate him, empty out his place, and get right back to the Middle East within a weeks time. I miss that man. I understand the feeling, I will not know HOW you feel. But know, there are others out there who dealt with the loss of a father. Here for you if you need anything.

We’re having our first boy. Husband didn’t want a boy because he doesn’t want him to turn into him. Little does he know, that’s one of the things I’m hoping for. He is the best man I know. We’d be lucky to have someone like that again
