@roubasfoodjourney: This is our version of steak growing up. Real steak was expensive — feeding a big family on it just wasn’t realistic. So this is what my mum made instead — cheaper cuts, slow-cooked until they’re melt-in-your-mouth tender, in a rich garlic and lemon sauce. I used scotch fillet for this one. Yes, I know it contradicts why my mum made this in the first place — but you can honestly use any cut. If you go for something cheaper, just let it simmer a little longer on the stove until it’s tender. Either way, you end up with the same result — a sauce so good you’ll want extra bread just to mop it up. Lebanese biftek. The good kind of comfort food 👌 Ingredients 6 beef steaks, sliced thinly salt and pepper to season chilli flakes (optional) 1 teaspoon lemon pepper 1⁄2 teaspoon bharat 2 tablespoons olive oil 2-3 tablespoons butter, (1 tablespoon per batch of beef) 1 large medium onion, sliced 10 garlic cloves, coarsely crushed 30 grams butter extra 2 tablespoons plain flour 2 cups hot water Zest of 1 lemon 1⁄4 cup lemon juice 👉🏽 Snip the edges of each steak 3-4 times with kitchen scissors or a sharp knife. Season with salt, pepper, chilli, lemon pepper and bharat. 👉🏽 Heat the oil and 1 tbsp butter in a casserole dish over medium-high heat. Sear the beef in batches, adding 1 tbsp butter with each batch, until golden on both sides. Remove to a plate and reserve all the resting juices. 👉🏽 Reduce heat to medium and add a little more oil if needed. Add the sliced onions and crushed garlic and sauté until softened and golden. 👉🏽 Add the 30g butter and let it melt, then stir in the flour to coat the onions and form a paste. Add the water, stirring continuously until smooth. Stir through the lemon zest, then return the seared beef along with all the resting juices. 👉🏽 Stir to coat the beef in the sauce, cover and reduce heat to low. Cook for 45 minutes to 1 1/2 until tender, adding warm water if needed to keep the sauce going (depends on the cut of beef) stir through the lemon juice, taste and adjust. #beef #lebanesefood #foryou #foryou #EasyRecipe
