A close look at how some Anti-Pick Security Pins behave in locks, part 1. I previously made a couple videos with 3D printed models, but I wanted to do a 'real world' sort of demo, so I made this full frontal cutaway to do so. Spools are a common security driver used by almost all manufacturers - even the lock company of all time, Master Lock, uses these in their locks. Rattlesnakes are found in DOM locks. They feature several free floating elements on the driver. This particular pin came out of a DOM IX 6 KG dimple lock. In my experience, they pick similar to serrated drivers. Lots of clicks out of these guys. Gin Bottles are one of Assa's evilest creations. They're found across their high security 'Twin' line of locks. It should be noted that the locks they're installed in typically have counter milled chambers, unlike the lock in this demonstration. The tip of the pin is slightly smaller than the rest of it, which causes it to get stuck reeeeeal good in the countermilling when picking the lock. Christmas Trees - like the Gin Bottles, they're another evil Assa Abloy creation. And also like the Gin Bottles, they're installed in locks with countermilled plugs. They have the same smaller diameter tip as the Gins, as well as a serration milled into the bottom half of the pin. These notorious pins are a lot more difficult to pick when installed in the locks they were actually designed for. Trampolines - they are often found in TrioVing locks. They're like a Spool, but the milling tapers out to the full width of the pin in the center. When picking these you'll typically get a shallow false set, which is followed by a deeper false set before finally bringing it to shear.
