@ianrush71: Giant Amazon River stingray Is it possible? Yes, the Amazon is home to freshwater stingrays such as Potamotrygon motoro and other species of the genus Potamotrygon. However: Most Amazon freshwater stingrays are typically 30–100 cm disc width. Even very large individuals are nowhere near the size shown in the video. The world's largest known freshwater stingray is the Giant Freshwater Stingray from Southeast Asia, which can exceed 2 meters across and weigh hundreds of kilograms, but it does not live in the Amazon. Likely explanation The video is probably one of: Digitally edited/CGI enhanced. A normal stingray with forced perspective from drone altitude and water clarity. A large underwater shadow combined with video effects to make the animal appear gigantic. Verdict The claim that this is a "giant Amazon River stingray" of the size shown is almost certainly misleading or exaggerated. Amazon stingrays are real, but the animal in this video appears far larger than what is scientifically documented in the Amazon. #MonsterOfTheAmazon #AmazonRiverMystery #GiantStingray #FactOrFake #WildlifeTruth
