@bryanakalaa: What do yall do in situations like this? Do you stand on your policy or do you just take the L? I hate having to charge my clients for a service they missed but also, I need them to be considerate when it comes to me as well. Let me know in the comments, what you would’ve done❤️ #lashes #beautyprovider #lashartistoftiktok #standonbusiness
As a service provider, nails for 6 years, I just keep the deposit I can’t bring myself to charge somebody 50-100% for a service they didn’t get done. Idk it just seems money hungry to me.

Okay here’s my thing.. and I am a service provider myself although I don’t work for myself.. yall need to be okay with LOSSES some days. Everyday is not going to be your best, and everyday is not going to be your worst. By all means you should definitely uphold your policy but this mindset of “that slot could’ve been taken by another person and I’m losing money” is is literally THE MAIN risk of working for yourself. It’s just like a serving job. Sometimes ppl tip, sometimes they don’t.. yes the slot COULDVE been filled.. but it wasn’t.. sooo go eat your lunch or read a book until your next client comes.. it’s nothing to be stressed about because your craft is always gonna speak for you. Cause from a client perspective, yall come off as caring more about the money(which you should care about the money) BUT everyone has a job to do. I’m sure you get off schedule sometimes just like anybody else

Deposit for sure but charging someone 100% with no service provided is illegal in most states.

Charging people when they don’t get a service done or cannot make it is bad business. Add a fee when they book next time. It’s too hard out here to just take and they not getting any benefit/ service. - sincerely a nail tech

I had a client cancel at 1am , her apt was at 9am so I was up by 8 getting ready ab to message her to confirm she’s coming and seen she cancelled. This is why I charge 100% for same day cancellation. I explain just like yall rely on me to be ready for yalls apt, im relying on yall. Im never late & never cancel so if you can’t simply tell me you aren’t coming at a decent time, then I don’t feel bad! At the end of the day it’s my full time job, and how i make my living.

We have to be understanding of y’all issues as well, y’all have kids and run late too, we have to reschedule when things come up with y’all as well. We never get money off when it happens on your end.

I’m not comfortable charging someone full price or even 50% for a service that they did not receive. I will only keep the deposit as they are non-refundable. And then no call/no shows are banned from booking.

As a service provider of 12 years… policies have to make sense. Have a dedicated budget set aside for accommodations. Keeping a client is cheaper than acquiring new ones.

I fully get it 😩 because now i have a spot that could have been filled and unfortunately still have bills to be paid . I just recently made the decision to just stand on it unfortunately but my regulars do understand now , they send extra for the inconvenience 🥹

I need y’all to also understand that although you have a policy, a policy by itself isn’t a legally binding contract. For a full‑service charge to be enforceable, there has to be a clear agreement that I accepted and not just a posted policy. A deposit only covers the deposit. It doesn’t automatically authorize charging the full service price for work that wasn’t performed. Businesses can keep the deposit if it’s disclosed, but charging the full amount for a service that wasn’t provided isn’t supported under consumer protection laws unless there’s a signed or clearly accepted agreement. And you can be sued. I’m not saying that this particular creator is doing that, I’m just letting you guys know from a legal standpoint what it is.

I used to be so lenient but so many clients got too comfortable and I had to start standing on polices no matter the situation. It’s hard 😭 but things run so smoothly now.

So I've been in this industry for 2 decades. Before deposits existed. You learn that God is your provider, no matter the situations. So we have to work on TRUSTING GOD WHOLEHEARTEDLY. Im big on policy, but im BIGGER on GOD. It's the compassion that God sees and will bless because the heart you showed to others.

Me personally , I’m not charging my clients card if this happens. I just have a no refund policy with deposits. Life happens. It’s a little money hungry to me

You have to be okay with that client not coming back. Client retention is most important. Why charge her x amount of dollars and risk her never coming back vs the amount of times she would continue to come back in the future because you were understanding, resulting in you making more money. Think about successful big corporations. None of them do that.

I think it’s hard bc when you have any other big brand business…they would still get their money. Or their policy would come into play. I ask why treat ourselves any different as if we don’t run a business too.

I give everyone, who’s a returning client, one or two chances depending on relationship and if they’re usually on time, ready, etc. after that first time I let them know verbally that there’s a cancellation/no-show policy they agree to when booking. Any first time clients automatically get charged for no shows.

I definitely see both sides and I have two thoughts. 1. In business, you have to be okay with taking L’s. Every slot isn’t going to be filled at every given moment. Even if she wasn’t booked then, you may not have had a client then. 2. Maintaining returning clients means flexibility. So if it’s a client who you never have hiccups with, why not give them a bly. That doesn’t mean let people take advantage because sometimes you do need to sever client/provider relationships.

I charge a deposit for every service bc of situations just like this. They have 7 days to rebook to have their deposit go towards the reschedule which i think is more than enough time.

I say exactly that. “I completely understand but I do have to uphold my cancellation policy.” I do give regulars a pass here or there but I make sure and let them know that’s a “one time thing”

Just charge them. It’s business, just because they’ve become a regular doesn’t mean they get to bend the rules.
