I think any time Rose saw Pearl loving her she felt deep down that it wasn’t Pearl truly loving HER, but Instead it was her inner programming of Pearl being “HER pearl”. You can really see this in the first scene: Her face when she says “I know you do” is because she KNOWS that pearl will do anything and everything with/for her—not because its someone pearl cares about or even for the cause (which is what matters to rose)—but because Pearl NEEDS to be. Pearl is a constant reminder to Rose of what shes trying to fight back against and her trauma at home. I believe Rose truly just wanted Pearl to move on and love herself to show that it was Pearl being Pearl, not Pearl being “her pearl”. About Pearl’s love being genuine or artificial…I think an argument could be made for both but here im solely speaking from Rose’s perspective. Either way I haven’t watched the show in a while so it’s reasonable if im completely off but idk i js found it interesting [smile]✌️

I think we forget Rose is literally a Diamond and the way Pearl treats her is literally the same treatment she’s used to from all of her gems. Pearl actually NEVER changed until Steven she was just always a really loyal servant as all gems are to their diamonds especially pearls
