I have the WORST potty mouth. So I told my kids they can swear like Mom when they pay TAXES like Mom. Swear words are only for tax paying adults. If you want to say swear words you can go in your room and say them all you want to to get them out of your system. That’s your free swear zone. Once they are teens I don’t care if they say swears in relation to something ( dropped something, stubbed a toe etc) but you can’t swear AT me or your Dad or your siblings & you still can’t swear at school or in front of other adults. My kids are both really good rule followers so it’s worked for us so far.

You are right! My parents didn’t teach me to follow the rules or when to not follow the rules. Had to learn them the hard way. It really does start this young

This hits close to home~ my 4 year old has been asked to not return to gymnastics and ballet because she doesn’t follow instructions. She runs and plays with all the equipment and does whatever she wants. I’ve wondered if she is neurodiverse or if I’m doing something wrong. Thanks for this perspective. I LOVE your content, especially as I raise my little girl!!
