The Reflecting Pool was beautiful and REFLECTING before this was done. People have posted pics from the last 10 years.m showing it was clear and reflecting the Washington Monument. This was a complete waste!

It’s not just the paint color. The sealant is keeping it from the natural process of draining some water through the granite and being replenished by new water. Pools can be sealed because they have filters for circulation. But moving water doesn’t REFLECT which is the point of the reflecting pool. Ffs.

as a pool owner, I don't get the issue. how can they not come up with a working solution. circulate the water, use proper chemicals. it only takes a few days for untreated water to go green. especially shallow water exposed to a lot of sunlight.

And yes. Pool owners know that a pool can absolutely turn green THAT FAST. If your chemicals are out of balance. If the water gets to warm. If you have a storm… it can turn on you quick, for a multitude of reasons. One thing we WOULDN’T suggest is painting a shallow pool a dark color so the water heats up faster and is harder to cool off 😂.
