@bbcnews: So far, the government has only specified a handful of sites included in the UK's social media ban, including Snapchat, TikTok, YouTube, Instagram, Facebook and X. #Deaf #Blind #Disability #SocialMedia #BBCNews
But to balance what I said in the previous comment if the government want to ban kids from social media now that they're planning on doing that they need to invest on the things like youth clubs and enrichment activities so that kids have healthy social opportunities and are not just essentially isolating themselves again this goes for whether you're disabled or not regardless of who you are and what your ability is everyone has the right to have the opportunity to be social whatever it means to them

Yep, I can 100% relate, since when I was younger and being bullied by my class and some teachers (including the headteacher who is now banned for life to be in a teaching position) I could only regulate myself by watching YouTube and playing video games.

as a chronically ill DID system with C-PTSD i agree with this as social media is one of the only places I can go to talk to ppl with similar experiences and get peer support but also to socialise as I am unable to do that due to triggers and an inability to walk longer then 10 minutes I believe just outright banning it is a horrible idea and instead there needs to be more restrictions and supervision to keep it safe for under 16s.

I think CAMHS needs much more funding before the ban does take place

I can only speak from my own experience as a physically disabled person who was not online as a teenager party by Troy and partly by my parents rules I didn't have access to anything remotely like a smart phone until the age of 14 and we didn't have the Internet at home until then either so to be quite honest I don't think it'll be that much of a big deal and they'll teach kids disabled all the wise the importance of making friends in person cause what you've got to think about is regardless of disability or not what did people do before we even had the Internet it's definitely manageable it might be a bit more adaptive but it's definitely manageable

As a diabetic, I’ve found many ways to keep me alive such as don’t take insulin when drinking alcoholic beverages as they usually don’t have any carbs and it soothes your blood sugar or pressure which cause your blood sugar to drop, I’ve also learned many more things that have kept me alive which I could’ve died if not for them
