I buy cheap glass cups, bowls, and specifically those square vases to use in my deep drawers for more vertical storage too!

Bags, pouches, labels. I’ve even taken pics and printed them out of what’s inside, then either tape to the front or laminate and lay on top.

I use a deep drawer to store notebooks and journals, standing them on their long sides like file folders.
