I can’t even tell you how many people warned me that grocery prices were too high in Korea to cook (balanced, protein-rich meals) at home consistently. I still didn’t believe them until I moved there. 😭😭

I’m living in Indonesia and yes for some Asian countries, buying food is cheaper than cooking at home. Especially if you are living alone or couple. I’m living alone n my budget for daily food is 5$. With that budget I get vegetables, rice and meat for lunch n dinner plus simple breakfast.

People talk without knowing, in korea making a balanced meal, to stay healthy, is way more expensive than getting it outside. Or they know and think that “broke/poor” people have to be unhealthy. Stay strong!! and just think of those comments as interactions that benefit your account 💜💜

same here in malaysia! it costs alot to buy ingredients to put together to make a meal but we can get really good food outside for less than rm10 / ~ usd 2.50

I do NOT judge you for eating out while being in your financial situation. I’m on a fixed income, I meal prep every Sunday, breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Some weeks I just have to get take out. I get sick of my own food.
