@piper.ally: We lost Basil yesterday. I’m so heartbroken, but also so grateful that I got to be with him in the end. He stayed with the vet while we were away last weekend, and when he came home with us and got comfortable in his enclosure, he finally let himself go. He was an old lizard man, and lived a very healthy 7 chameleon years. In the end, his organs couldn’t keep with his desire to eat bugs and judge us from a distance. Even in his last few days, he remained bright green and eating his luxurious silkworms. Caring for him was about finding joy in knowing he was healthy and comfortable, and not about what he could give back to me. He really taught me a lot about love. This boy will be leaving the biggest hole in my heart, and he will be heavily missed.
