ice is less dense than water because of the way it forms while freezing (crystal structure), the atoms aren’t packed as tightly together therefore allowing it to float! not a miracle 👍

bruh water is not even the only one doing this, gallium, bismuth and sicilium do the same thing. ice floats because hydrogen bonds form a hexagonal molecular structure, it expands and its density decreases.
