Realistically, Eton makes sense for Prince George on practical grounds. It’s already equipped to handle the security demands that come with a future king. Things like discreet protection, controlled access, and a campus used to protecting prominent students. A school without that infrastructure would mean a far more conspicuous police presence, which works against the “normal experience” everyone wants for him. Eton lets him blend into a cohort where he isn’t the only one with a complicated profile, rather than standing out as the obvious exception. It is a shame but it’s also entirely understandable

We are told William intends to modernise royalty, this decision doesnt look that way. George wouldnt go to the local comp but there are good grammer schools that could have accepted him.
