@lifewithsonduren: When you walk into a clinic, you assume the person treating you has been independently vetted and licensed. What if that’s not always the case? In Ontario, clinical assistants are not registered with the medical college, don’t have a public registry, and aren’t required by law to pass licensing exams. A doctor could hire ME as a clinical assistant, no third-party body validate my credentials, and I could even perform pap smears and incisions. 5 doctors I have spoken to across Ontario have told me there is practically no difference in the work that is being done by these unregulated clinical assistants versus regulated physician assistants.
Damn you serious!? I work at Mayo Clinic in the states and we manage their accreditations - how the FAWK are yours not monitored!?!?!?!

I received an email from my doctor today, stating that they had a medical student in the office and we may be asked or directed to see them instead of the doctor

Its on the doctor, they are delagating some things in clinic and taking on all the liability. Doctors do evaluations, and delagate as they see fit and in general its usually delegation to nurse with experience or IMG doctor that doesnt have an independent license yet.

This is true. The Walmart walk-in near me uses a “doctors assistant” and then she stamps the prescription with the actual doctors signature. You can basically get any prescription you need there lol
