I'm glad you addressed the myth of the oceans influencing the colour of the sky. It must've arose at a time where people believed that since the sky was reflected in the ocean, it must be the same the other way around. I am unsure how long this misconception lingered, or where it stems from but it feels related to the idea of blue not being seen as a standalone "colour" per se.
