When I was looking for last minute flights from Indonesia to Omaha, the BASIC economy ticket price was $1200-1400 (including surfboard fees). I think the prices were increased because the College World Series is going on. As I was browsing the Amex Travel and Chase Travel sites, I found I could piece together 3 full business class flights from Jakarta to Omaha for $1600 + some points (with no additional surfboard fees). This to me felt incredibly worth it, especially due to the rib pain. I have the Amex Platinum card as well as the Chase Business card and both of those get me great deals in points. I also get Priority Pass lounge access through the Amex Platinum which is forever worth it to me. Is this something I would book again? For full price, never. For a really good deal? Probably, but it would have to be a really REALLY good deal and be mixed with a super long travel day. I also think the food was so meh because I had to select the gluten free option and so everything was very ✨unseasoned✨ and it was just a lot of plain veggies and fruit.
