I love Dr. Roy... I'm heading his next lecture in museum of the future.. however, I disagree with him on this point, we call muslim empire cuz Islam eliminate the race/ethnicity/nationality stuff completely and melt under one body, the Muslima Umma. while he have a point as the originators are arabs, nobody deny that, the whole point is one muslim nation

No! It was not an Arab or Muslim empire.... It was Umayyad, Abasid, Mamluk, and Ottoman. The Arabs started it but different locals took over and learned Arabic. And many people speak Arabic but that doesn't make them Arabs.

It *was* Muslim though. Just because the various ethnic groups spoke Arabic, that doesn't mean it was Arab. You're making the same mistake pan-Arabists make.
