@nancykacungira: Context is key and this approach won’t be universally applicable; but if you can see this working at your level, here are some useful nuances for the "Ice Cream" approach: 1. The 30-60-90 Plan is a draft, not a demand. Bringing a plan shows incredible initiative, but you don't know the inner workings of their company yet. Present it as a flexible hypothesis to show how you think, not as a rigid demand of what you will do. 2. Keep your research strictly professional. Mentioning an article your interviewer wrote or a podcast they appeared on shows elite attention to detail. Mentioning their vacation photos from Facebook is just creepy! Stick to LinkedIn and industry publications. 3. Personality is the tie-breaker, not the substitute. You still have to nail the core competencies of the job. Talking about your passion for Madagascar vanilla won't save you if you can't answer the technical questions; but if you and another candidate have the exact same CV, the ice cream story may be what gets you the offer.
