People are acting like the mere discussion of an extreme emotional distress defense means Luigi Mangione is admitting guilt or changing his plea. That's not how the legal system works. Defense attorneys are supposed to explore every possible legal argument that could benefit their client. Their job is to defend, not to make public statements of guilt. Whether a defense is raised, considered, or argued in court is separate from whether a defendant has admitted anything. Sometimes it feels like people confuse a lawyer doing their job with a client making a confession. Common sense really isn't that common

I read that KFA was very upset with Carro’s decision to unseal the filing, arguing it prejudices Luigi (FURTHER!), particularly considering this type of defense is not available to use in the federal case. Shall we add this as yet another item to the long list of appeals issues??

How can the defense give them disclosures of experts if prosecutors don't give them all of the discovery? Won't be surprised if the defense is blindsided during the trial.
