For example: 🔋 10% kick Use it during easy swimming, technique work, long sets, and open water swimming. The goal is to maintain body position while saving energy. ⚡ 100% kick Use it for sprints, race finishes, accelerations, and short speed sets. The goal is to generate as much propulsion as possible. But in freestyle, your kick shouldn’t have only two settings: OFF and MAX. The best swimmers can switch between different kick intensities depending on the situation. 10% • 20% • 30% • 50% • 100% Sometimes the goal is to save energy. Sometimes it’s to maintain body position. Sometimes it’s to accelerate and swim fast. The better your kick technique is, the less effort you’ll need to create the same speed. That’s why it’s important to work on: • Proper kick mechanics • Relaxed ankles • Foot flexibility Many swimmers kick hard not because they need to, but because their kick is inefficient. One of my favorite drills for beginners: Divide the pool length into 3–4 sections and change your kick intensity throughout the lap. Easy → Fast → Easy → Fast This helps you feel the difference between kick speeds and learn how to control your effort instead of kicking at maximum intensity all the time. #swim #swimcoach #swimtips
