That is why, along with being a martyr, Imam Hussain (A.S.) is remembered as the Mazloom of Karbala — the oppressed one. The Qur'an permits raising one's voice against ظلم (oppression) when one has been wronged. Karbala was not merely a battlefield. It was the ultimate example of standing against injustice, regardless of the cost.
