Me and my wife put $2600-$3000 a month in. We are 32/28 and have just under $500k in all our retirement accounts

10% annualized return is not realistic. I saved more than the monthly amount a month you have listed for 20yos; Been saving for close to 30 years, I’m 10 yrs away from retiring and do not have anywhere close to what I would need to compound to $10M.

The plan needs the market to calmly hand over 10% a year for 40 years. I've watched it lose its mind over a regular Tuesday.

Why does everyone think 10% is unreachable? Just VOO and chill. 10% return in the last 30 years and 15% return in the last 10 years

It’s 10% return but usually comes out to 7% when you factor inflation

10% is the S&P 500 historical average — fully achievable with VOO or SPY over 30+ years. The real variable isn't the return, it's starting age. Someone investing $500/month from 25 hits $10M way easier than someone starting at 40 with $2K/month.
