Agree! Go where you’re most comfortable but I have a male gyno and he was the ONLY person (after 8 specialists) to diagnose a problem I had in a 10 min visit!

It’s 100% okay to go to whichever provider makes you feel most comfortable. Some women prefer a female OB/GYN, some prefer a male, some prefer a provider of their same race, some swear by a particular provider. You’re allowed to have preferences and do what feels safest to you.

There’s nothing wrong with women preferring women obgyns but it’s wrong to say that men that are obgyns are weird or they shouldn’t be in that field

I made the original comment and I agree with just about everything you said. The one thing i think is unfair is the idea that there’s significant mistreatment/abuse toward patients by male obgyns at higher rates than female obgyns

My dad and grandpa were both OBGYNs (obviously male) and I’ve only ever had male OBGYNs but I also completely understand why not everyone would want a male OBGYN! I personally have picked my docs based on recommendstions, training, and willingness to treat my endometriosis without suggesting surgery. And it just so happened to be a man 🤷🏻♀️.

And thats completely fine make your preference known. Usually they have female OBGYN on staff and as long as its not an emergency/urgent it shouldn't be a problem 🤷

My mom had a male Obgyn hurt her during a procedure and he said “that doesn’t hurt” and she looked at him and said “how would you know that do you have a vagina” silenced. However in my experience male gynos I’ve seen have been great and more gentle out of nervousness maybe idk?

I 100000% agree with you. I will only ever see women doctors because 1.) i’ve always had bad experiences with men doctors but besides that, I need someone who can relate to me and understand me as a woman.
