Water struggles to show up on film since it is clear. It is the same reason film uses lube to make someone look wet during shirt less pool or shower scenes. It shows up better on camera.

this is the trick they used for the rain in singing in the rain using basically a sprinkler with milk to make it show up on camera the main male actor got severely sick from it cause he was filming in cold milk for hours

I have no idea but I add milk when I boil corn on the cob (butter and some chicken herbox too) and that works out pretty well. I'd say it checks out 🤷🏻♀️
