Why wouldn’t you have free rein on your spouse’s phone?

Kari :
I think having to have “a policy” about it at all is the red flag here. I have my husband’s passcodes, but it would not occur to me to go through his phone?? I truly don’t even think about it. I also have his location, (which we turned on for practical reasons during a vacation when we were dating years ago and never turned off) and I check it occasionally to like… see if he’s still at work or on his way home? I just can’t imagine having to put serious mental energy into any of this

I have been married for 11 years together for 14 and not one time have ever felt the need to go thru my partners phone nor they thru mine. you either trust your partner or you don't

Uh, I literally hand her my phone when driving to have her look for things for me. She can do whatever, like organizing emails and photos for me 😅

In my opinion it’s the ability to go through the other person’s phone at will. That said, the ability and the desire are two different things. If you trust them, there’s no reason to do it

Phrasing :
It’s like an open home policy. Come over, my house is your house but respect my privacy. If i have to tell my partner what that means then they’re not for me plus if i have something to hide that would hurt them then that’s a problem
