I know it sounds absolutely mental but I absolutely LOVED quavers after I had my tonsils out! My throat was so itchy and they helped xx

I had this as a kid. Smooth Ice cream, ice lollies that are small or thin (sometimes opening your mouth can be really painful) ice for drinks or drinks from the fridge. Also recommend sleeping upright for about two weeks. Lots of rest and careful with bending as the pressure can cause a lot of pain also. My parents treated me to a mcdonalds aleo for a morale boost.

use frozen fruit to make smoothies! easy to drink, more filling than an ice lolly but still nice and cold!

Ice cream. For a few reasons: one, it tastes good. Two, it doesn’t taste absolutely awful if it comes back up (which yes, is quite common for oral, nasal and throat surgeries). And three, it’s very calorie dense so it can be a good choice if it’s just too difficult to get much food down for pain reasons or because if there is a lot of vomiting the more calories you can get in before it comes back out the better. And i reiterate, it tastes nice.

Had my tonsils out when I was 16 and I agree with all these comments but also get him to drink everything cold through a straw not just from the glass. The straw aimes it straight at his throat and stops his mouth from instantly warming up the liquid so you get more relief from it soothing your throat

Ask for the weight conversions for the liquid pain relief as the bottle instructions hardly touched my son. Said 5ml but he needed 7.4ml for it to actually help

As a child of this surgery, cold puréed foods and good painkillers. As an adult who has had future surgeries, I expect they can provide more than paracetamol and ibuprofen.

I had mine done when I was younger, cold soft drinks, ice poles and ice cream, luke warm teas with ginger cinnamon lemon and honey, luke warm soups with bread to soak it up. My mum also made me slimfast milkshakes so maybe see if theres some protein shakes he would like. Good luck mini Murph 🤗
