On my first day I was sent an on-boarding doc that linked to notes from the interviews and the ranking discussion. I was the 2nd choice candidate. I thought it was a mistake, then I got to know the person who prepped the on-boarding doc better. I was the bigger person then, but now am in a management role where I have zero tolerance for that kind of bullying.

I was told this by my “helpful colleague” once and that I was replacing someone who was soooo much more mature than me. It rattled me as I already felt like an outsider coming to work in an area and business very different from my experience m. My manager noticed my change in behaviour so I told him. He then laughed and said I absolutely was his first option and that she had no business talking about that. I could let go after that but the over thinking was over thinking 😆 it was about 15 years ago now and now I would have handled it differently. Good manager though, I liked him!
