@ablack_fitness: Dos & Don'ts on your calorie deficit for weight loss journey #over30weightlosswomen #fatlossover40 #sustainbleweightloss #weightlossforlife #fatlosstipsforwomenover30
I baked cookies for my family last night and I was really close to the top of my deficit so I said, I can’t have it tonight but I immediately went into my calorie tracker and added one to my day for the next day…that felt so victorious to not give in and have that type of restraint

Does it matter at what time of day I eat? If I get hungry like 30-45 mins before bed and have a lot of calories left, is it wise to eat?

Thank you for the advice, I need to lose at least 40 lbs. I am defiant and stubborn even with myself so I have a hard time telling myself no. If I can say yes, but eat less that works better.

This is also very good for people with ARFID like me. My diet consists 100% of cake, chips, crisps, pastries, pizza, candy. And when I count calories, I steadily lose 100 gr a day. My macros are horrible and I take supplements. But I can lose weight. Restraint works.

Exactly, I like the way you worded that. If there is something I really want but I can't fit the whole thing into my deficit that day I will often just have part of it and out the other part away ( or give it to someone else) Sunday there are donuts at church this week and if I have some calories banked I might have one if I feel like it. It is about choices.

Agreed. There’s also the situation where for some people, certain foods are triggering for a binge spiral. Maybe they need to restrict for a while to heal their relationship with food in general before moving into a more “sometimes” mentality.

When you have learned the art of restraint it is kind of freeing in a way. Its weird but it really is.

Resistant Insomnia :
it's heavily dependant on the person and even their phase in life. I used to be ultra regimented for like 15 years with one cheat day a week. I was very fit and felt great. Now I'm chronically ill, unrelated to my previous lifestyle before someone starts, and now I'm tired and also a mom and that lifestyle is just not possible anymore. So now I have a completely different lifestyle and it's much more flexible and probably looks more "normal", but it's not the best for my body and mental health, it's just what's possible right now.

THIS. The best advice I got when going into my diet was do not restrict myself take away when first starting out bc all you’re going to this about is thing (in my case Mountain Dew) constantly and feel bad when I “cheat.” Instead she advised a goal system- I have to drink a Stanley amount of water before I could reward myself with one. It automatically restrained my consumption but I never thought when first starting my diet “this is so hard.” Now don’t get me wrong there were times I chugged that water so I could get the caffeine but getting out of the restrict mentality and restrain was the best thing for me.

i think you hit the nail on the head with 'you can have the cake, just not every day' that sums it all up
