it’s so interesting to me because he understood his character enough to know that he would “wimp out” and take the pills instead, but he also admitted he didn’t realize bear was technically the bad guy and i think that’s because he had so much empathy for his character

Michael understands Bear on such a deep level. In an interview, someone asked him that if Ian did what Bear told him to do with the One Wish Willow, would Bear learn his lesson or would he make the wish again. Michael stated that Bear would make the wish again, not learning his lesson ❤️🩹

as an actor the goal is literally to never play your character as though you are the villain because then your performance is hindered. that is what michael means when he says he empathized with him, not to mention that bear is supposed to be a complex character who is meant to make the audience question and empathize with him at different times.

Some people saying bear’s actor confirming bear isn’t a villain… he meant he wasn’t *playing* him like he was a villain, because that’s bear’s mindset and hes acting as bear!! He definitely still is a bad guy!!!

Bear's acting wasn't the best, but you can see the "vision" for his character of being too much of an innocent idiot, that he's a bad guy. Bear didn't know he was a villain, but every1 (including audience) besides him knows he is.
