This storybook cottage is straight out of the 1948 version of 'Little Red Riding Hood' by Elizabeth Orton Jones ❤️✨ I instantly understood where the inspiration came from as we were driving along winding roads through a wooded area to reach the red cottage. This location really feels like you've entered an enchanted forest, making your way to Grandmother's house. The cottage used to have an ancient white ash tree that fell during a blizzard (you'll see the tree illustrated in the book). It was a devastating loss, but a local artist was able to create a free library at the 10ft base of the trunk that remained. The Pickity Place offers 5-course daily luncheons that you can reserve. The menu changes each month, and they have three private seatings each day at 11:30 am, 12:45 pm, and 2:00 pm. You must call (603) 878-1151 to make reservations. You can also take a stroll around the beautiful gardens! There are many delightful details to discover, such as little fairy houses. Be sure to explore the different shops while you're there. I highly recommend purchasing some of their herbal tea before leaving; it's delicious!
