I still can’t believe it’s over 20 years since the start of Supernatural. So let’s run this again in honor of our boys, and the 15 years of entertainment they brought us. Additionally, the only thing we can do during times that seem less than stellar is indeed CARRY ON. Many of you know this already, but for those of you who do not….. My daughter was young when she came to me and said she started watching this show with two brothers, and she knew I’d like it. So she started the series over with me, and there we were, binge watching their way into crime solving, infused with comedy, detective work, gory horror, great music, and heartwarming times without any chick flick energy, of course. “Dad’s on a hunting trip, and he hasn’t been home in a few days.” I was instantly hooked. With this opening line, they kept us for 15 years, with multiple run throughs, including last night when I watched S5E1, just because that’s where it was left from last time I tuned in. The show already had me with all of their music choices, but whenever that first season change happened and this song came on, I flipped out. The daughter explained they use it every season. I paused everything and explained to her my history with this incredible piece of music. Back when I was about the age our boys are when they began this series, someone asked me what my favorite rock song of all time was, if I had to choose. I hesitated, because how on earth could I ever pick one? The cousin however, pipes up without any hesitation whatsoever, and says, “ ‘Carry on Wayward Son’ is your favorite.” She made that assessment by rocking out with me to music all our lives, and my uncontrollable reaction whenever this came on. All these years later I still can NOT control myself. Thank you McG for enlisting whoever is in charge of music, although something tells me it’s ultimately your choice. Sending the best of wishes to the entire Supernatural World, and we’re so appreciative you created this gem of a show. PS - The day I finally saw Kansas sing this live, I thought my head was going to explode. My now ex-husband took me decades ago!
