yeah I draw the line at Red rising, I could barely get through the first book I literally did not want to get a did not finish so I forced myself to finish it and I know people are saying oh but it gets so much better. I just didn't like it.

I‘m 200 pages into Red Rising and I’m really trying to like it bc it was recommended to me by a student. No luck so far. The world building is so sub par. And nothing about Darren is even remotely sympathetic. It feels like a not very good written boy fantasy to me. Is it part of the journey, does it get better?

Red rising is not a good book. it is very predictable, and the pacing is way too quick. i actually quit reading it about halfway through. i have never done that before.
