We’re having a dessert table (cupcakes, brownies, cookies) as well as a simple sheet cake from Publix that people have help themselves too. We’re not doing a cake cutting

Bathroom baskets are the best - most guests bring a very small purse so having the extra necessities available keeps guests staying longer…no need to leave bc they need Tylenol or bandaid

Create it and Make it :
I'm not with you on the cake or wedding favours. Cake is part of the package, however, I also don't like waste of food or money. Ours was 5 layers the top and bottom fruit cake and the middle ones sponge. We kept the top as is tradition and we used the others for dessert at the evening buffet/food. We specifically stated too none of these mini finger slices, they had to be a proper sized slice of cake!!!! Favours are a little gift of thanks for your guests for attending. They don't have to be expensive, they just have to be from the heart. We had mini pots of homemade marmalade that way they could take them away and enjoy as a treat for breakfast. Bathroom boxes I have never heard of and spare shoes??? As women were all aware that you're shoes might not be comfortable come the end of the night. Be organised and put a spare pair in the car! Yes I agree women have tiny little clutch bags that you can't fit much in but that's a fashion choice we make. Get creative, but a paper gift bag suitable for a wedding and put all your bits in that. It'll look like you've just bought a gift and if you get one big enough you can put your spare shoes in it too!! I love creating these for the bride because she's the one who really doesn't have any of this stuff with her! If you're not sure about the idea I call it an emergency bride kits and I've got how to create one over on my channel.

Of course you don’t NEED to provide them - but flip flops and bathroom boxes do make guests feel very looked after, especially when the ladies can’t carry very much for themselves in a teeny little clutch bag ☺️- and no need for toast drinks, wedding cake and favours either but that’s cutting back on fabulous traditions that make weddings more weddingy… Favours go back centuries and are supposed to be given in 5’s, by giving 5 favours to each guest, in return you receive 5 blessings - health, wealth, happiness, long life and fertility. We used to give 5 sugared almonds 🤢 I’d take 5 shots bottles instead 🤣 cakes go back even further and symbolise you working together and lovingly helping each other from that point forwards… Don’t take all the symbolic traditional weddingy stuff out of a wedding, us oldies love all that ❤️

It’s your wedding and your special day. Do what you want. You don’t have to bribe them with gift bags. The ceremony, cocktails, and a dinner is more than enough. If they don’t like it, they don’t have to attend your next one.
