hey girly! i would suggest dressing a tiny bit more conservatively since the tattoos are already going to attract a lot of (good and bad) attention. enjoy the trip, the sights, the cats, and the food!!

The male attention was beyond intense when I went with my mum as a teenager, we both had unwanted attention. It might have changed since then ❤️

I love your style. Be you always 💕 Istanbul is a more conservative city. Cute maxi dresses would be perfect

I would definitely go more conservative, both to be respectful to the locals and to make your trip as seamless as possible

Remember, you’re an American (not exactly the world’s favorite nationality at the moment, unfortunately), and it’s important to respect the culture and customs of the countries you visit; especially countries that are not fully Westernized, or are only partially Westernized, like Turkey 🇹🇷. That said, Turkey is a diverse, modern country, and what’s considered appropriate can vary depending on the city, neighborhood, and situation. It’s a beautiful country with wonderful people, but “cheeks out” and “boobs out” generally isn’t the best choice if you’re trying to be respectful and comfortable while traveling. The safest and most practical approach is: • Shorts that reach mid-thigh or longer • T-shirts, blouses, sundresses, or other light tops • A light cardigan for cooler evenings or more conservative settings • A scarf or shawl in your bag for mosque visits or traditional areas • Beachwear reserved for beaches and pools How do I know? I’ve been to Turkey several times, my best friend’s husband is Turkish, and my ex was Turkish as well. Hope this helps, and safe travels! 😊

Lived there 5 years, it depends on the area but the male attention can be very intense.

It’s a Muslim country at the end of the day so wear more modest neck lines and longer skirts. You’ll see a lot of stray cats though so definitely worth it for them alone 😁

Just back from Turkey, holiday destinations are very laid back but in certain areas I’d definitely cover up a little more

When traveling (especially solo travel) I tend to err on the side of caution just in case 💜 Can’t wait to see your adventures ✈️

In the more conservative neighbourhoods like Faith I would recommend covering up, you will need to anyways if you want to visit any of the mosques. In neighbourhoods like Nişantaşı you can wear what you want!

Wear modest during daytime, if you go to a night club you can show a bit more skin

Cover up in Istanbul. There are beautiful places you can go to dress nicely. But normal days on the streets? Don’t attract attention

Get flowy long dresses and have a shawl to cover shoulders, that way you’re a little more conservative and can cover up if you get uncomfortable stares. If you stay in a resort wear what you want, outside the resorts you’ll pass by mixed people and some can make you feel uncomfortable by staring, saying something or doing something.

definitely don’t go out like this near beyoglu or anywhere really touristic - you should go to bebek and nisantasi (neighbourhoods) seems like it would be your vibe

Definitely wear more conservative clothing when going to the old town. Everywhere else it’s pretty modern. Specially the area where all the surgeons are, you’ll be fine.
