@f14wl3s: Mindless Self Indulgence (MSI) is an American electronic rock band formed in New York in 1997. Her music combines elements of punk, metal, industrial and electronics. The group was born thanks to the experiments of Jimmy Urine, who in the mid-1990s decided to turn his musical developments into a full-fledged project. The name MSI comes from Jimmy’s solo mini-album, released in 1995. The original composition also included: Steve Montano (Steve, Righ? — guitar); Marcus Juringer (bass guitar, keyboards, DJ); Jennifer Dunn (Kitty - drums). Later, Marcus was replaced by bassist Vanessa Y.T., who was later replaced by Lyn-Z. The debut album Tight was released in 1999. Although he did not achieve commercial success, he helped the band attract the first fans. The key point was the release of the album Frankenstein Girls Will Seem Strangely S*xy (2000), which demonstrated a unique genre mix and became the hallmark of MSI. In 2013, the fifth studio album How I Learned to Stop Giving a Sh*t and Love Mindless Self Indulgence was released. In January 2014, the band announced a break from touring, and in 2015 it temporarily ceased to exist. Current composition: Jimmy Urine - vocals, programming; Steve, Rai? (Steve, Righ?) - guitar, backing vocals; Kitty (Jennifer Dunn) - drums; Lyn-Z Ballato-Way is a bass guitar. Former participants: Vanessa Y.T. - bass guitar (1998–2001); Marcus Juringer - bass guitar, keyboards, sampled, second guitar, vocals and backing vocals (1997-1998, 2000, 2014; died in 2026). MSI concerts were distinguished by energy and shock. The band used finger dolls, which contrasted with the frank and often provocative theme of the songs.
