Way to young, yes im being that guy who says what you should and shouldn’t do. Once you get into a certain amount of movies and start looking into “niche” you need a level of intelligence or understanding off elements, which a 14 year old just wont have. He should pause watching movies until he grows a bit older so he doesnt ruin it for himself when his opinions on what he likes and doesnt and how he perceives movies change.

Liking those films isn’t pretentious. What is pretentious is how he makes it abundantly clear that he thinks he’s better than everyone because he’s young and likes those types of films. The bad thing is you can only watch a film for the first time once, and by watching them when you’re too young to fully grasp them you’re robbing yourself of that experience. Rant over.
