@wallaceungwiluk: This is what groceries cost when you live 35 miles from Russia. For the last couple of weeks, I’ve been posting content around our subsistence walrus hunts. And for the most part, I’ve been getting some great responses. But like anything else that you share online, there are those select few that don’t understand why we hunt fish or gather for the things that we do. And those will probably never lean into curiosity to try to understand. But the reality is, when you live in a place that is so remote and isolated like this, you don’t have the luxury of having affordable groceries stocked on your store shelves. And the extreme arctic climate is not suitable for cows and chickens. So we rely on the same food sources that our ancestors have relied on for thousands of years.
