I don’t think anyone is offended, but more concerned. I think as someone who has been divorced, I think financial independence is so important. I was fortunate to have that, but watched many friends unable to leave.

She should also consider things such as the working spouse passes away unexpectedly or has an injury where they can’t work. Then what? It’s always good to have some sort of backup plan even if divorce is not in your vocabulary.

You’re right, people don’t really get a say on how someone lives. But as adults, we know that who you are at 19 is not who you always are. Things change, life happens. Relying on another person for your whole life is risky.

It’s not her being 19 is her man being very much older. I was a 19yo wife to a 20yo man. She’ll want her own money soon enough. It’s not about him it’s about her safety n how she’s speaking n wanting to encourage this.
