Jesus was being crucified… and He prayed for the people driving the nails “Father, forgive them; for they do not know what they are doing.” — Luke 23:34 NASB Jesus didn’t speak these words from a comfortable place. He had been betrayed. Mocked. Beaten. Rejected. And nailed to a cross. Yet one of the responses that came from Jesus was: “Father, forgive them.” That is what makes forgiveness so difficult. We want to forgive when someone apologizes. Jesus demonstrated forgiveness while they were still hurting Him. Forgiveness does not mean what happened was okay. It does not remove accountability. It means you refuse to let what someone did to you determine what comes out of you. The cross shows us something powerful 👇 You can be wounded without becoming bitter. You can be mistreated without becoming like the person who mistreated you. You can forgive because you have been forgiven. The world says, “Make them pay.” Jesus says, “Father, forgive them.” Before you ask God to deal with the person who hurt you, ask Him to deal with what their hurt produced inside of you. Who are you still holding at the foot of the cross that Jesus is asking you to release? #wakingupwithjesus
