so hears the thing; unless its something such as a faction or new area of a map then it should be part of the base game, nothing deters me more than looking at a game and seeing 5+ DLC that are just basic game features for other titles

They did this with EU4 a handful of times. They did it when the mechanic became too load bearing, and they didn't want to design around people not having it anymore. So they will likely use that mechanic again for future content

The endless dlcs turn me off. i love the game but damn bro they want me to pay like 200 bucks to own the whole thing. And they don’t fucking do real sales at least on console (seriously year 2 was 3 bucks less last time it went on sale, how is that a real sale?)

I think they probably want to put new dlc features onto the landless system and need it base game because they don’t want people to need to buy dlc in sequence

this has happened a lot in paradox games and I'm all for it personally. moving content from DLC to base game makes it far easier to add onto it later. look at ascension paths in stellaris. originally utopia content, then it went basegame, and now we have more expansions expanding them.

Honestly the way they’ve done their DLC’s always seemed iffy to me, others titles didn’t charge me for mechanics they added later. But I’m new to the genre so 🤷🏻

I feel like its a step in the right direction for paradox, hopefully this is a sign of change from them but i guess we’ll have to wait and see. More likely than not though is that youre right and it was just the best chance for them to make more money, especially with the fact that base game only gets some of the types of camps
