As a Jamaican growing up in Jamaica, I knew my ancestors were African. I knew about Africa because it was taught in school not to a full extent, but it was briefly taught in social studies and culture in school so, I don’t know what she’s talking about even in music. Maybe in the 60s,70s

This show is one big xenophobic misinformation hub. There were already black conscious and Afrocentric movements in the Caribbean prior to windrush. The first pan African congress was literally in London led by a Trinidadian.

Now having my own children, I knew why my parents -especially my dad was extremely protective( even though I hated it then) . I know we have to balance it, but the truth of the matter is, I was glad he went that extra mile. I would have ended up like many of my peers who were allowed to do whatever . Much love Dad (RIP) - you would have loved to see how I eventually turned out 🥰

I think they’re more talking about 50’s and 60’s because my Grandmother is Jamaican and I have had to explain to her about her African Ancestry
