10 things I would tell a new mom 1. You don’t have to love every second. You can be completely obsessed with your baby and still miss your old life sometimes. 2. The newborn phase feels like it will last forever… but it doesn’t. One day you’ll realize you haven’t had a newborn in your arms for a while, and it’ll hit you. 3. Stop comparing your baby to other babies. Every baby develops differently. Someone else’s baby sleeping through the night doesn’t mean you’re doing something wrong. 4. Take the pictures—even when you’re exhausted. You may not feel camera-ready, but you’ll want those pictures later. And make sure you’re in them, too. 5. You’re allowed to have boundaries. Being a grandparent, aunt, friend, etc. doesn’t mean someone automatically gets access to your baby whenever they want. You’re the parent. 6. Your baby needs YOU more than they need the “perfect” mom. Fed, loved, safe and cared for is the goal. Not perfect. 7. Ask for help before you desperately need it. And when someone offers to help, let them. You don’t have to do everything yourself. 8. Your relationship with your partner is going to change. You’re both learning how to be parents. Give each other grace, communicate, and remember that you’re on the same team. 9. You will miss versions of your baby while they’re still right in front of you. That’s one of the weirdest parts of motherhood. You can be excited for the next milestone and still cry because the current version is disappearing. 10. Trust yourself. Everyone will have an opinion about how you should feed, sleep, hold, discipline, soothe and raise your baby. Take the advice that helps and leave the rest. You know your baby, and you are their mom. ❤️ #pumpandpourwithme #workingmomlife #breastfedbaby #weekend #dmvmoms
