Now that I think about it, in a lot of ways Toph did become Aang's new Bumi. She didn't replace him, that's not what I'm getting at: She and Bumi both embody the same wonderful qualities that make the people of the Earth Kingdom who they are, they're both perfect examples of what an Earth Bender can be like. Aang needed that friend and found it in Toph
