Viizii :
Theres something odd ive noticed with ads and it's begun to make me question everything i thought about companies who pay for ads. Obviously, YouTube is sponsoring and allowing people to put their content out there for free. In turn, they pay those people to advertise for other companies and its a large circle of money that benefits everyone. Ads are 100% necessary to make YouTube possible. I dont mind sitting through an ad or two. However, I've begun to realize that YouTube scales the amount of ads played based off of how long it takes for you to skip them. Imagine you're multitasking, watching YouTube while doing something entirely different that requires your attention. When an ad plays, you may let it run longer than required. Sometimes it takes a few extra seconds, sometimes even a minute or two. If it takes you MORE time to click out of an ad, YouTube capitalizes off of that by playing MORE ads with more frequency because its recording the fact that you're "afk". If you were to leave your youtube alone and NOT skip a single ad, the ads will grow from 15 seconds every once in awhile, to over 5 MINUTES LONG and back to back. People who fall asleep watching YouTube are actively being taken advantage of. At that point, YouTube isnt trying to keep them entertained. It's using their forgetfulness, business, sleepiness, or lack of attention to get more watch time on ads. I've actually tested this and it is 100% true. If you're considered "afk" you will get 30 MINUTE PODCASTS as a FUCKING AD. its ridiculous!!!
