In my opinion, it’s better to pay something and resolve the account than risk being sued or having your wages garnished. If someone eats the steak, they should pay the bill. It’s that simple. You don’t get to enjoy the service and then act surprised when the business wants to be paid. I’d still try to negotiate a settlement or pay-for-delete for less than the full balance, as long as the account is considered paid in full and the agreement is confirmed in writing. But at the end of the day, if you ate the steak, pay the bill.
