I got married at 19, was a sahm had 3 kids, then all of a sudden in 2020 found my self homeless, getting divorced, no car,no bank account... I did have a degree though. but getting a job at the height of covid was hard. Any trad wife seeing this, have a back up plan, I dont care how in love you are.

My mom was a SAHM for 20 years. She kept her teaching license active the whole time. “If something happened to your dad, I wanted to be able to go to work immediately.” Surprises. Dad got MS, had to resign. Mom went back to work.

You hit the nail on the head! They want babies - but not to be a parent. Good parents understand how hard that job is. My son is 16 and it only gets harder every year as you guide them into adulthood. I’m very intentional and involved in my child’s life. It take a lot time and patience. But I also wanted to be a parent. Not just have a child.

Before I was born, a lady I know was pregnant with her fifth child. Her husband passed away very unexpectedly. Thankfully, she had an education and was an RN. She was able to join the work force and support her family. She will always be the example I use of making sure that you’re prepared when life throws you a curveball.

my mom's dream was to be a mom. but the second she was an empty nester, she was depressed af because she didn't have to do the job of being a mother anymore. she ended up going into accounting and is far happier now!
