I have mid brown hair and have been dying my hair black for over 6 years, I had the SAME exact issue as you. I started to use the Korean hair dye boxes instead, it’s called bubble pop or something and buy the cool tone grey or khaki colour and it COMPLETELY changes the undertone of your hair, it takes like 3 weeks ish for it to settle in but I don’t have brassiness EVER

Hey Tara, little tip that’s helped my hair loads. Never use box dye. I use the L’Oréal Majirel Colours and mix it with an oxidiser. It’s a 1:1.5 ratio and I’ve been doing this for years and I never get any red/warm undertones. If anything when it washes out, it just turns a slightly lighter shade but never red. Hope this helps. X

Bleach will give u yellow undertones once the toner fades which I think I hate more than red, atleast red looks natural 😭

If you’ve dyed your hair black, it might be that you’ve been using a black hair dye which usually uses red undertones as their base. I’m not entirely sure but if you’re going for a black you need to be going for a blue black. IM NOT AN EXPERT THO GYAN JUST SOME KNOWLEDGE ❤️

Warm undertones don’t come out for good! The right hair maintenance will stop it from reappearing. The water also contributes to warmth. You also need a double ash base in your colour to cancel red tones. You don’t need full head bleach maybe a mini balayage. Manchester hairdresser here
