I think it in part has to do with many games from 1990-2010 being widely considered to be “classics” or the “greatest of all time” and when you choose to not include anything from those years, you come off as someone who hasn’t really played anything from those years if many video games at all.

I absolutely love a grindy crafting game, i love spending 3 hours collecting resources to build a new work table that I don't even know how to use yet. I love a game that makes me drink water and find and prepare food. I like something that makes me earn something and also has enough risk that I could lose it if I'm careless. I totally understand that it's not for everyone but I love it. If I'm given anything too easy in a game I don't appreciate it enough, i need the grind to feel passionate about something

My top ten games: -Elden ring. -ninja gaiden 3 razors edge. -ninja gaiden black. -tales of vesperia. -devil may cry 4. -shadow of the colossus. -Celeste. -Tetris. -doom eternal. -hollow knight. It isn’t ordered, I understand why people wouldn’t like newer games as much most new games have a lot of filler that makes them unreplayable, as well as some gameplay mechanics most games nowadays have insane magnetism, very floaty jumps and insane airtime, and every action game needs to have a parry as a main mechanic, and a lot more games coming out unfinished, I know every time period have there own unique negative trends like the unfair design of arcade games or the lack of saving in nes games, but I would argue those were mainly the result of the limitations of the time, and I would argue that they don’t affect the gameplay as much as the pauses in newer games do, also i didn’t mention qte’s because i love them and they need to be brought back.

am I the only one who doesn't have a definitive top 10 cause I like so many different games in so many different genre for so many different reasons that coming up with a definitive top 10 starts to become impossible

I think the issue is that having a list with only newer games shows that you're either young or new to gaming. Nothing wrong with either, but people won't take your opinion serious because of that

I think part of this is that My 10 favorite games ever, The 10 best games I would play today, and what I would say are The 10 best games ever made, that’s probably 30 games. And that’s cause for misunderstanding, I believe.

people argue with me when I dont have half life in my top ten and it's like well I guess you can say that I should have it there but that doesn't mean that I need to have it there 🥲 even worse when I say that I only have maybe one old game up there and it's only because I grew up with it

My top ten 10 Games are mostly all pre 2010. Barely any new games have replay value to me. I still like them but they didn't scratch that itch that they do.

#4 on my list is Dragon Warrior 7. Until E33 came out, it was my favourite JRPG. It's considered by most to be a bad game, and one of the worst Dragon Quest games. That's the crazy part though, I don't care and I love most of the things people don't like about it.

I agree with u but it goes both ways, if someone put 10 old games in they're top 10 people would say your trying to be different, u cannot win either way.

It’s wild! There are so many incredible games in the history of gaming. And it’s all so personal for a lot of gamers. Paper Mario 1 would probably be my top ten, because I experienced joy playing it when I was a kid. I love hearing about other people’s love for games I haven’t experienced, especially folks whose taste I know I appreciate. Some folks just want to have a fight because they want to have a fight about something.
