My current theory is that after all his time travel shenanigans young xehanort appeared in quadratum in a similar way to sora, and is going to have a reluctant redemption arc, as sharing a broken umbrella is symbolic of lending his hand despite the lack of trust between them.

I kinda like the end of young xehanort being him so adamant that he'll win that he refuses to make amends as he disappears back to his original time. It was a very in character way for him to go out, very cocky and proud in the way xehanort and all his proxies act. I don't know how I feel about redemption for him

Annoying asf to me that the entire point of kh3 was that it was meant to be “the end of Xehanort” and now it just doesn’t matter. He exhausted all his options, he had no bodies left, he was completely and utterly defeated. He died a villain that nobody forgave or respected, and they all watched him fade. It was perfect and ofc they decide to bring him back.
